Sullurupeta Chengalamma temple Nellore District
Sullurupeta Chengalamma temple located on the bank of Kalangi River in Nellore district. Sullurupeta Chengalamma temple is 98 km from Nellore RTC bus stand. There is a tree which is 400 years old located inside the temple. Goddess Chengalamma Parameswari manifested herself in the village of Sullurpeta on the Kolkata– Chennai highway.
According to the legends, on the bank of Kalangi river, a Cowherd found the idol and inform to villagers. The villagers tried to lift the idol. They can not lift the idol. Next day they approach the idol and noticed that idol is facing towards South and standing straight. After performing Poojas, they were able to lift the idol. Then the idol was carried out the current place and installed it there. The Goddess earlier days called as Tenkali(Dakshina Kali). Later replaced by Chengali. Here Brahmotsavams are celebrated by the devotees. At that time “Sidimanu” will round around the temple. Hence this place is called as Sullurupeta.

Sullurpet Chengalamma Temple Timings:
This temple will open 24 hours daily. The main door of this temple never closes. On Sundays and Fridays, huge pilgrims come and worship the devotee and perform pooja and other rituals to the goddess.
